 Old mighty bridge Painted crimson by the fallen As splashes run under it Chatter connect above it

Explanation: This is an image of the Ampera bridge in Indonesia, Palembang, the city I was born in. The bridge was built in 1960 and the fund came from the Japanese war reparation.

Since Indonesia was colonized by Japan for a period of time you could argue that the people fell because it inspired the color. I grew up crossing this bridge many times since my mom worked across the mainland so I think this would be a good subject for my poem.

So "old mighty bridge" is referencing the bridge itself since it's old and has been standing for quite some time now.

"Painted crimson by the fallen" referencing the name "Ampera" which is a shorter version of

"Amanat Penderitaan Rakyat" which roughly translates to the mandate of people's suffering.

And since the money to fund the bridge came from the Japanese war reparation the color red was inspired from the fallen soldier.

"As splashes run under it" of course you could hear the splashes of the Musi river under it.

"Chatter connects above it' The bridge was built to connect the sebrang ili and sebrang ulu of the island so basically connecting more people, more perspective, and more. Although initially
